First Time Entrant
The origin of the Bahari Bandits
The Bahari Bandits were founded by two unlikely coastal legends who shared three things in common: a love of the wild, a dangerous overconfidence in maps, and the belief that any problem can be solved with enough tea, tyre pressure, and stubborn optimism.
One founder was known for calm strategy. The other was known for saying, “That looks passable,” shortly before something became very much not passable.
The story goes that the idea began somewhere between the sea breeze of the Bahari and the dust of the bush, when the two founders looked at each other and decided that normal fundraising was far too sensible. Why host a quiet dinner when you could enter a vehicle into one of Kenya’s toughest off-road challenges, cover it in mud, and convince friends, family, and companies to sponsor the chaos?
And so, the Bahari Bandits were born.
The name came naturally. ‘Bahari’ for the coast that shaped them. ‘Bandits’ because they planned to steal hearts, attention, and hopefully a few generous sponsorship commitments along the way.
Absolutely no actual banditry is endorsed, attempted, or covered by the team insurance policy.
Armed with a rhino mascot, questionable driving snacks, and a motto that sounded much more professional than their planning meetings, the founders set out with one mission:
FUEL THE CHARGE. PROTECT THE WILD.
Today, the Bahari Bandits charge not for glory, though they will accept applause, but for conservation. Every donation helps power their Rhino Charge journey and supports the protection of the wild spaces that make Kenya extraordinary.
They may not always know exactly where the track goes.
But they know exactly why they’re driving.
WILD SPACES.
REAL IMPACT.
TOGETHER.
